Katrina Stewart

Coaching Experience:

Coaching Professionally since 2000, Minnesota and Washington State.  I have taught students of all levels and ages, Basic Skills through Senior Moves in the Field and Freestyle.  I am currently the Bellingham Sportsplex Skating Academy Director and owner of West Coast Figure Skating.

Skating Background:

I grew up in Northern Minnesota skating with Bemidji Figure Skating Club under 1968 Finish National Champion, Inger Kroeplin (Melander), the Red River Valley Figure Skating Club (Fargo, ND) under Shelly and Dawn Frisch, and the Duluth Figure Skating Club under Zoe Hill.  I was 1996 Intermediate Ladies State Champion, 4th place at Colorado Championships as an Intermediate Lady, and the recipient of the 1997 Northland Competition, Carla Corneilson Memorial Trophy for Novice Ladies.  I was an Upper Great Lakes Regional Competitor and a Midwestern Sectional Competitor as well placing in numerous competitions around the Midwest and Manitoba.  I have been the guest skater for ice shows in Superior, Wisconsin, Park Rapids, Minnesota, Alexandria, Minnesota, and returned as the guest skater to my home club in Bemidji, Minnesota in 2005, as well as a skater in the Minnesota Symphony on Ice.

I have attained my Gold Moves in the Field medal, Junior Freestyle Test and my Pre Silver Dances.

Memberships:

I am a current member, registered and CER compliant coach with USFS and PSA.  I have my Basic Accreditation through PSA and am currently working towards my sports science written exam.

Education:

I have my Bachelors of Science in Biology from Bemidji State University, Bemidji, MN

Specialties:

Freestyle Moves in the Field, Power Skating for Figure Skaters and Hockey Players, Off Ice training and Choreography.
